French Marriage Cultures

The French know that a wedding is n’t just about the couple, but also for their family and friends. As such, they have many fun and charming traditions that will make for a night( or night) you’ll never forget.

One of our preferred french ceremony practices is the “vin d’honneur” which is like a concoction hour for your guests to celebrate the new pair before their dinner. It’s a great way to socialize with your customers while sipping on champagne and enjoying the company of your loved ones

Another fun tradition is la jaretiere which is a metaphoric act where the groom did capture the garter that is thrown by his bride- to- become and wear it around his neck as he and his wife dance up. This is a joy, playful tradition that shows off the child’s good fun and jovial soul!

A final fun french wedding tradition is a ceremony called la bride civic, or just, the community hall marriage. This is a very important part of the ceremony as it’s what makes your union legitimately binding in France. Generally this is done the day before the marriage and can be followed by a catholic or metaphoric meeting for those who wish to add more festival to their large moment.

Ultimately, the french believe that monotony is a crime and as such, they fill their marriages with lots of amusement. For example, it’s quite common for the bridal party and close pals to perform a monologue for the couple. They’re a great way to break the ice, getting everyone laughing and show the newlyweds that their attendees are there to help them in their joy.
